I hold a special place in my heart for these two. Janelle & Mark were one of the first weddings I ever photographed, and to this day I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a couple who loves each other so much. We went to college together and my first impression of Janelle was this: I’d be sitting nonchalantly in the hallway when all of a sudden I’d hear this high-pitched shriek and then see this brunette haired girl running towards this boy, jumping into his arms and squeezing him tight. That was my first impression of Janelle and definitely not the last time I saw her greet Mark in that way. Her and I would be sitting together during campus vespers while Mark played piano on stage and she’d turn to me and say, “I’m marrying him!! How’d I get so lucky?!”. They’ve been married for two years now and absolutely nothing has changed. When Janelle picked me up from the airport, we began talking about married life and our husbands, and she had the same light and excitement in her eyes as she did the first time I ever saw her. And Mark? He looks at Janelle as if she’s the best thing that ever happened to him. I’m so blessed and grateful to call them friends.
When I visited California a few weeks ago, they let me stay in their guest room, let me borrow one of their cars for a day, fed me, showed me around the town…and 45 minutes before they had to go to the airport to attend a friends’ wedding, we squeezed in these photos of them. I couldn’t be more grateful for them, their love, and everything that they are.
Thank you so much, Janelle & Mark, for all the love you’ve shown me! I’m so grateful for you both!
